Leslie Cooper, Board Member – Lead Cook
Leslie is a humble lady who is incomparable in handling her professional and personal life. She is currently the Lead Cook at Texas Christian University in which she has been excelling at for the past 4 years. She is also a devoted wife to Bobby and proud mother of her 21-year-old son. The homeless community touches her heart because she’s been there. She was a resident at Presbyterian Night Shelter for about a year. With the support the shelter offered, Leslie was able to regain the belief in herself. She was able to get her life back together and she meet the love of her life in current husband Bobby. She is overjoyed that God has now put her in a position to be a living testament and inspiration to the homeless we serve.
Juaquina Mackie, Committee Chair – U.S. Outreach – Licensed Vocational Nurse
Kena was born and raised in Southern California. She is a hardworking, caring and loving mother of 1 daughter. During her early 20’s she decided to become a drug and alcohol counselor, which she did for several years in low-income areas. Realizing her passion to help others in all communities and walks of life. She decided to follow in her grandmothers footsteps and attend nursing school. Not only is she an advocate for children, amazing nurse, mother but also an animal activist that loves to laugh and watch 90’s movies.
Maria Tucker, Vice Chair
Maria was a full- time career woman, mom, and grandmother. She took pride in giving time making people’s lives better after meeting her. Being retired, she is excited to use her spare time to give back to an organization that empowers the less fortunate. She is originally from Jackson, MS but then moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area 11 years ago. She has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. She loves helping people.
Donald Priestley, Board Chair – Fund Raising and Advertising
Don was born in Texarkana, Ark but raised in the small town of New Boston, TX, and educated in DeKalb, Tx until his teen years. He then moved to Riverside, CA which he then called home. After high school he was drafted into the Army, but he chose to become a Marine. He had some medical conditions which led him to a different path. He began a career as a Transportation Consultant. He considers himself a people person(he loves to talk!)
A’Dream Peters, Executive Office Assistant – Photographer
Dream is every bit the California girl born and raised. She would come out to Texas every summer to visit with her Nanna. She move to Texas permanently at the end of 2015. She is looking forward to attending college after this year. She loves her electronics (She cannot go without her cell phone, iPad, or camera!).
